We package different software into easy-installable RPM package aiming at an easy software installation and de-installation. Primarily we package software that is either not found in the distribution at all or only in an older version.

First of all, you need access to the Packman Subversion repository.
Send an email to the Packman mailing-list (packman*a*t*links2linux*d*o*t*org) to do so.

Check out the pm-upload-job directory somewhere in your HOME, e.g.:

 mkdir -p ~/src/projects/packman

This document tries to make a list of those common issues and will serve as a base do define common policies on how to solve them.

Those will be promoted to the Policies document when acknowledged by the Packman members.

Some info about the x264 updates

Introduction

As you all may have already noticed, x264 updates often force you to rebuild all packages which depend on it since the release number (so.XX) changes frequently and the packages depend on this exact number. Sometimes API may change, and a program must be patched then before rebuild (or updated) Since many packages already depend on x264 rebuilding them all is a hassle so be prepared to it when you want to update x264. You have been warned.
